Wordless Wednesday: My colorful dessert

Sometimes, I like really colorful desserts. I think this little treat from Yogurtland fits the colorful theme.  I have a ritual when I go to Yogurtland for my toppings, and frozen yogurt.  I fill the bottom with gummy bears, add yogurt {Kona Coffee Blend}, add more gummy bears, Butterfinger, and fresh strawberries.  I layer the bottom with gummy bears because I get sad when I get to the bottom of the cup, and there is all yogurt. So when I add my toppings first, there is a little surprise at the bottom for me. I totally HATE coffee, but I love any flavor of coffee ice cream. Yes, I’m a weirdo.

I'm getting my fruit servings for the day, at ummm Yogurtland. {giggle}Welcome to “Angry Julie Monday’s Wordless Wednesday Linky”!

He kept running

Angry Kid has been consistent with growth spurts throughout his life. He met all the milestones. Last year, we bought him three new pairs of shoes for Kindergarten. He wore those shoes the entire year.

Of course, we went to the Nordstrom sale in July this year to purchase Angry Kid shoes for school. We had him measured and it said that he was a size 12.  We ended up getting him three pairs of size 13 shoes, with a ton of growing room. Like so much growing room, that I was going to put thicker socks on him.

Last Wednesday night, I tried on his shoes. They fit fine with that extra thumb or so of space in the toes.  He wore his new schools on Thursday.  On Friday, he wore them again. He complained that they were a little tight that day.  He ended up wearing Crocs all weekend. This kid is not used to wearing socks and tennis shoes.  Yesterday morning, we got him ready for school as usual.  He said that his shoes were WAY TOO TIGHT and they hurt the backs of his ankles.  Angry Husband checked the shoes and Angry Kid’s toes were shoved up against the front.  He then tried the other two pairs of shoes that I had bought. ALL of the shoes were way too tight.  Angry Husband loosened the pair that Angry Kid had worn already and told him to not make them tight. I knew that we would have to make a trip to Nordstrom after school.

Angry Kid's brand new size 2 @newbalance running shoes. He ran all the way to school today. He was a 13 last week.
I ended up taking all three pairs of shoes back to Nordstrom. I know that they have excellent customer service and would understand. I told the salesgirl that my son has had a growth spurt in the past few days and that none of the shoes fit him. This is another reason I shop at Nordstrom; I love their return policy. She measured his foot and it was measuring way over a 13.5.  She then brought out some shoes in a size 1 and 1.5. Well the 1’s did not fit at all, and the 1.5s made his feet like stuffed sausages.  We moved him up all the way to a size 2.  In running shoes, he is also a wide.  He hasn’t worn a wide since he was about three years old.

We ended up getting the New Balance running shoes pictured above, and a pair of skateboard shoes.  Angry Kid chose the New Balance shoes to wear to school today. The kid who usually whines the entire way while walking to school, well he RAN today.  Apparently, if you are wearing running shoes, you MUST run.  He ran so fast that I lost him. He was like Forrest Gump.  I was that mom at school screaming for my kid. He had run onto a playground with some of the older kids, go figure.

At soccer practice yesterday, Angry Kid wasn’t paying attention. His coach made him run some laps. He told us last night that he didn’t mind the laps, and that he wanted to run some more.  Only my kid.

So today, I started looking online for some local kid’s races in the next few months. He had a great time doing the Kid’s Surf City Run in July.  I signed him up for a Holiday Race in December. Who knows, maybe he will be a track star or something. At least someone has some speed in this house.

And yes, my kid jumped TWO WHOLE sizes in shoes. Seriously. He has been acting weird lately, and he eating is OUT OF CONTROL.  I can’t imagine having multiple boys in the house. The food bills must make people broke.

My Netflix Viewing Choices

I am a huge multi-tasker. I’m pretty sure that I’ve said this before. When I’m trying to work on a blog post, I usually watch a movie on Netflix, or some of my TV shows on Hulu.  Because it is the end of summer, I have NOTHING in my Hulu Queue.

Of course, I needed to edit photos last week which takes lots of concentration. So I went on Netflix and looked at some of my “Watch Instantly” or “Instant Viewing” choices. We have one account for our entire family, so we share the same login.  I rarely watch Netflix so all of the “Netflix Suggestions” were based on my husband’s previous viewing selections.

Cerebral TV Shows

Now the real question is, what the heck is my husband watching on Netflix? Seriously, these suggestions are quite bazaar?

Project 365: Week 36

Obviously, I am losing my mind this week. I just realized that I posted an extra photo last week on my Week 35 post. I start my Project 365 weeks on Saturdays. So this week will only have 6 photos.

Among other things like starting soccer, school, chaos etc…I hit a 1,000 (THOUSAND) posts this week.  I would have been over 1200 at least, but I did some deleting earlier in the year. Seriously, I was totally random in the beginning.  It is a good thing that I used that “Move to Trash” button on my blog’s dashboard.

So here it is, Week 36, or as I would like to call it “The End of Summer, School is here!”

First Day of School

We survived our totally un-planned, no-structured, free-for-all summer. NEVER again. My son needs some structure in his life. But it was fun while it lasted.  Angry Kid was anxious for school to start, and so was I.  Yesterday, we had our first soccer practice also, which was quite entertaining to say the least.  Soccer is PERFECT for Angry Kid, he was all red and sweaty after he was done. Totally worth the money.

We pulled up to the school yesterday, and I jumped out of the car to check the teacher and class list. Angry Kid stayed in the car with my husband. I think I cared more about the teacher and classmates than he did. I came back a few minutes later, as I snapped an iPhone photo of the class list. I only knew a few of the kids in his class this year. But really, in practicality, it is probably better for Angry Kid as he will be less distracted.

So here he is, my new First Grader. And really, it kinda looks like a mug shot, doesn’t it?

Wordless Wednesday: A Boy and His Dog

It was too hot to play outside last week, and this week too. At 100 degrees, we chose to sit inside and watch movies.  Angry Kid let our dog, Wolfie, in to play. Of course, Angry Kid was eating lunch on the couch.  Wolfie wanted a piece of chicken and Angry Kid teased him with the chicken. Eventually, my son gave in and gave her a piece.  Wolfie was VERY happy after that. I took about 20 photos during all of this. I thought that it would make a fun story board. I used my iPhone, and then the ShakeItPhoto app. I also used Picnik for the collage.

Wolfie is a chihuahua, dachshund, corgie mix if anyone asks. We got her from a rescue when she was a few months old. She is a sweet dog, just don’t mess with her food.

I Support My School My Way

This is year two of school for us. Angry Kid is starting First Grade this week.  It is amazing how much he has changed in the past year. Honestly, it is amazing how much I’ve changed.

I volunteered in his Kindergarten class every Monday for two hours last year.  Sure, I had things that came up, like sleeping in, etc. but I never missed a day.  I think it is important for my son to see me there, helping out. Plus, I got to know the kids who were in his class, a little bit better.

I am involved in the PTA at our school also, and this year’s 2011-2012 Jogathon Chair. I’m a little crazy, I know. I volunteered at last year’s jogathon by taking pictures, etc. to see how it all runs.  I hope that I can live up to everyone’s expectations this year. I just realized that I never finished editing the 700 photos that I took.

Project 365: Week 35

It was the last week of summer and also the week before school starts. Most people that I know are already back to school, but not us. Angry Kid doesn’t start school till next week. This is the neverending summer. Angry Kid is also starting soccer this week. Could I add anything else to my plate?
