Wordless Wednesday: Summer Dresses

Because I was in a hotel last week, and had some evening events to go to, I thought I would take the time to pose for some selfies of my outfits. Because really, when do I ever have the time to wear and put together decent outfits these days?

Summer Mexican-Style Dress

Dress bought at the Patchwork Show in Long Beach, Shoes are Born (TJ Maxx last year, I think?)

Because I’m not good at being a “fashion blogger”, I took several different views.  I like to make silly faces also. And the dark spots on my dress, ummm from sweat. I’m classy like that and it was hot hot hot!

Striped Summer Maxi Dress with Tieks

Michael Stars Maxi Dress and blue patent Tieks. Both were borrowed from Kelly. It’s a long story but let’s just say the outfit worked well! I went to borrow her shoes and left with a dress also. Necklace, all mine from Anthropologie.

Like I said before, “I’m not usually a fashion blogger!” But I had to share my fun outfits that I put together last week.

runDisney Tinker Bell 10K Race Announced

What’s that? Did you hear the news? Wait, you didn’t? You mean your aren’t stalking the runDisney website, Facebook page, or Twitter account daily? For up-to-date information?

runDisney Tinker Bell 10K Announced

And you wonder why I’m jumping for joy?

The 2014 runDisney Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend is scheduled at the Disneyland Resort January 16-19, 2014. And amazing news y’all…not only is there a Never Land Family Fun Run 5K, Kid’s Races and Tinker Bell Half Marathon but now there is a Tinker Bell 10K Race on Half Marathon Weekend!

2014 will be the third year that Disneyland Resort will be hosting Tinker Bell Half Marathon weekend. I actually ran the Tinker Bell Half Marathon this past January. Well, I can’t actually say I ran the whole race because I had knee issues, but I did complete the 13.1 miles! I dressed up as Peter Pan for the race, which made the experience even more magical! It was so much fun!

I may be a little biased because Disneyland is literally fifteen minutes from my house, and I love that a huge event like this is super close! Plus, I get to see all of my runDisney race friends!

But anyway, enough about me….

A 10K race is a great distance (6.2 miles) which is between the 5K (3.1 miles) and the Half Marathon (13.1 miles). So if you are ready to run more than a 5K but you aren’t quite sure you want to do a half marathon, the 10K is the perfect distance for the new and/or beginning runner! Or if you just don’t want to run a Half Marathon and want the full runDisney experience!

“We’re excited to add the popular 10K distance to Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend,” said Faron Kelley, director of marketing, Disney Sports. “Tinker Bell 10K expands an already exciting series of events, and adds more opportunities for our passionate runners on the west coast, especially those new runners who are stepping up to the 10K distance.”

Tinker Bell 10K finishers will receive a new, specially-designed, fairy-themed medal. runDisney events always have the coolest and most awesome medals, so I can’t wait to see the medal that they have designed for the Tinker Bell 10K.

Adventures at Catalina Island Camps

If you are a regular reader of my blog, you will remember this post that I did about Catalina Island Camps in May. Ironically looking at the date, I realize that the post was done on my son’s 8th birthday. Well after the post was written, I found out a few weeks later that my son won 2-weeks of camp at Catalina Island Camps

He left for camp last week and he started his second week of camp, today. Yesterday, we went and visited him at Parent’s Day at camp. Well, we confirmed that he was having a great time! And the staff at camp is awesome. Seriously, even my husband exclaimed, “everyone is sooo nice here!”

But although it was Parent’s Day, we had to go with the flow as they were doing their regular scheduled activities. My son’s group was doing kayak races yesterday. He is quite good with a kayak now, and extremely focused!

The half-day visit that we made yesterday pretty much confirmed that we will be sending him to Catalina Island Camps again next year, and most likely for four weeks this time.

Went to visit the kid @catalinaislandcamps today. I'm pretty sure he is hooked and wants to go every year now.
