A Day Dedicated to Angry Husband

DSC_0039

Happy Father’s Day Angry Husband!!!

Look at you, climbing through the sand in your jeans and tennis shoes to make sand castles with flip flops. I had to bug you a little to do it, but you did. I hope Angry Kid and you enjoy the Playstation 3, and the endless hours of male bonding.

Spotlight Saturday: 06.13 to 06.19.10

Spotlight Saturday

Here are FIVE of my favorite posts from the past week. Each week I will be highlighting some of my favorites. I have many blogs in my reader, as I have many friends with all different types of “niches” or “non-niches”. I will post serious stories, fun stories, pictures, recipes, etc. They will most likely be in a random order.

1.  According to Kelly-Coming Out of The Closet

Kelly talks about suffering from Postpartum Depression and how it has been the last year for her, in addition to having three children.

2.  Living Locurto-Happy Father’s Day

Amy tells the story of her father’s heart transplant, which was on of the first in their area.  She also talks about organ donation.

3.  Diary of an Unlikely Housewife: Craving: A Fabulous One-Piece

Elisa shows some fabulous one-piece bathing suits.  She also talks about wearing one-pieces.  Really, I have to agree with her. No one sees my stomach but Angry Husband. I really don’t think he cares if it is bright white.

4.  Skip To My Lou-Craft Camp

Cindy, one of my favorite crafty bloggers, is featuring a craft camp the entire month of June. So although this isn’t this week, it is every day this month. There are tons of great ideas featured.  Every day she will be linking to a new craft.  These instructions look so simple, I might even be able to do crafts. That is saying a lot!

5.  Copyblogger-5 Reasons Why Trying to be Successful Will Keep You Poor

Almost everything that I have been successful with was by accident.  I don’t think you can really plan success. It just happens.

E3 The Electronic Entertainment Expo

On Tuesday, I went to the Electronic Entertainment Expo, or better known as E3.  This was my first time attending this event.  We are gaming household.  Angry Husband and Angry Kid are the gamers.  I play stuff on my iPhone occasionally.  But I took Angry Husband and his friend, Erik along with me.  Although, I will have to say that Angry Husband and Erik took me along with them.

We arrived at the LA Convention Center and it was packed.  Like seriously, packed.  I’ve been there for the LA Auto Show before, but I’ve never seen it this crazy.  We barely found a parking spot there. We got there a little early and waited for about an hour for the event to open up.  It was some of the best people watching that I’ve ever seen. Angry Husband was full of anticipation.
Battlefield: Bad Company 2

We were standing under a display of this game, Battlefield: Bad Company 2.  It kept playing over and over and over with this annoying song about “I love guns”….I seriously had that song stuck in my head all day.  Behind us, there was a huge Star Wars display for the game Star Wars Force Unleashed II.  You should have seen the people just standing there, staring.

While Angry Husband was looking at all of the game displays, I people watched.  I would consider myself an expert at people watching.  I was also checking out people’s badges.  It said their name and the company or business that they represented.  This was a trade show that was not open to the public.  I was invited because of my blog, so my badge had my blog name on it.  I saw people with companies listed as “Microsoft, Blizzard, and even colleges”.  I would say that the percentage of women attending was about 10%.  I’m used to blog conferences etc. with mostly all women, so this was new to me.

I was laughing at Angry Husband because he was complaining about people not wearing enough deodorant while we were waiting.  It was a very large group of stinky boys.  As the doors open, people pretty much pushed their way in.  It was quite hard to keep up, and you could easily get lost in there.  Angry Husband had certain games that he wanted to check out, so we made our way towards their booths.

We spent quite some time at the Sony PlayStation 3 area.  There were a ton of new games, plus you could play them.  He even played some 3D ones.  He was impressed with the glasses.

But mostly, Angry Husband was distracted a little by the Booth Babes.  There were tons of scantily clad women folk standing around.  Some of them may have been wearing costumes.  He had a TON of photos of said, Booth Babes on his iPhone.  I laughed.  I just felt bad for these women, because I wouldn’t want to be wearing those costumes and heels all day.  It looks like hard work to be a Booth Babe.

Angry Husband’s FAVORITE THING of the day was to take a picture with Sig Hansen from Deadliest Catch. He is a HUGE fan.  They are coming out with a Deadliest Catch game soon.  When the people told Angry Husband that Sig was going to be there, I think he silently squealed a little.

Erik, Sig Hansen, and Mike

I had an appointment with a game company while I was there.  I got a great view of a new online game for kids.  I will be doing a full review soon, like next week.  I was quite impressed.  But I did check out some other things while I was there.

Here are some of the things that impressed me:

glee Karaoke RevolutionHello, a Glee game!!! GLEE KARAOKE, which is even better.  I have a little secret.  I may sing along to Glee songs in my car, daily.

Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4

Lego Harry Potter.  Angry Kid is a HUGE fan of Lego games.  I told him about this game and he can’t wait for it to come out next week.

Wii Inflatable Racing Kart

These Wii Inflatable Karts are pretty cool. The controller goes in the steering wheel.

I was completely overstimulated when we leave at 5pm that day.  I could barely remember what I saw.  I thought it was bad at BlogHer last year with all of the people that I was talking to. Nope, this was worse.  I think I will be fine at BlogHer this year.  I was able to chat it up with these gamers.  My little trick was pretending to know what I was talking about, even though I had no clue.

And my word of the day for E3 was FACTION. Seriously, I heard that word over and over again.

I included a little slideshow of my photos above.  I’m sure you will notice Angry Husband and his “Booth Babes”.  Overall, I was quite impressed with E3.  I will go again next year if I can.  I will probably go more than one day so that I spend more time playing the actual games.
Disclosure: I was invited to E3 by Gazillion.  I want to thank them so much for this opportunity.  Ok, Angry Husband should be thanking them.  It was like he won the video game lottery that day.  I will be providing some game reviews at a later date.

Disney California Adventure and World of Color

Last Thursday, I had the pleasure of being invited to the VIP Premiere of Disney California Adventure’s “World of Color”. I had been anticipating the opening of this for over a year.  Since we are Season Passholders, I’ve seen it being built along the way.  It was amazing to see it go from start to finish.

Before the show came on, we were able to attend the “blue” carpet entrance inside Disney California Adventure. I had no idea on what to expect.  I joined the group of bloggers and media along the carpet awaiting the entrances.

Celebrities at World of Color Premiere

It was awesome to see all of the celebrities who came out for this event.  I only pictured a few as I did not get too many clear pictures as they were walking really fast.  I didn’t think that you wanted to see pictures of the back of their heads. Teri Hatcher was quite awesome though. She came over and spoke with us for a few minutes.  We all complimented her on her dress. She said that her daughter picked it out.  But really, the biggest celebrities that I saw that night were the other bloggers. These women are my world.  I love hanging with other bloggers and talking “shop”.

After the blue carpet premiere, we got settled in the waiting area for the show to begin.  Of course, it started getting a little windy and I realized that my backpack with my jacket was in a locker at the front of the park.  I went with an attendant to the front of Disney California Adventure and headed for the lockers.  I learned that they clean out the lockers when the park closes.  I was able to retrieve my backpack from the Lost and Found.  After getting my backpack, I hurried back to the staging area for World of Color.

It got dark pretty quick and I was able to secure a spot to stand on the far left of the World of Color staging area.  I would have to say that standing in dead center would be the best view.  I had an obstructed view because of light poles and other very tall metal objects. I was also on the upper level so I did not get wet at all.  I’ve been told that if you are standing on the lower levels, you could possibly get wet.

The show started off with a bang, literally. Because we were there for the premiere, they had fireworks.  I’m a huge fan of Disney fireworks because they are always beautiful.  There was music synchronized to the entire show.  It was quite amazing.  I highly recommend this show.  Although, I think it is going to be very popular this summer.  I will explain below on how to get a spot for the show.

I took my Flip video camera with me.  I stood there and filmed the show while it went on.  I will advise you that I’m not the greatest videographer.  I have really bad hand shake and well, my hand got tired.  But I did capture three videos of the show.  I’m going to post the links to my videos, so if you want to click over, you can.

Now for all of the details for World of Color.  I’m going to try and be a bit informative now. I have a page of information about The World of Color so I’m going to lay out the nitty gritty for you (all from Disney of course):

*“World of Color” will be presented twice nightly throughout the Disneyland Resort “Summer Nightastic!” season, June 11 through August 29, 2010.  Guests will stand during the 25-minute shows, which are at 9pm and 10:15pm.  You may bring strollers into the viewing area.

*The FASTPASS for “World of Color” will be available each morning at the Grizzly River Run FASTPASS terminals.  Guests can insert their park tickets into the terminal to obtain a FASTPASS ticket for the show, and they will be assigned a specific show time.  As with other FASTPASS attractions, a limited number of passes are available for “World of Color”. When all of the day’s “World of Color” FASTPASS allotment has been distributed, Grizzly River Run terminals will convert back to distributing the Grizzly River Run FASTPASS tickets.

*Guests arriving before park opening to line up for the “World of Color” FASTPASS may enter the Esplanade at 7am and gather at the Main Entrance to Disney California Adventure.  When Disney California Adventure opens to the public, guests lined up for FASTPASS will be walked into the park and over to the FASTPASS terminals.

Beginning June 11, guests can go online and order a special boxed picnic meal that includes “World of Color” RESERVED VIEWING. Picnic meals may be ordered online at www.disneyland.com, or by walk-up purchase, subject to availability, at the Sonoma Terrace, Golden Vine Winery. You cannot order them by phone.

*Guests who do not obtain a FASTPASS or reserve dinner packages for “World of Color” may  watch the show from viewing locations around Paradise Bay.

I have a ton of more information to share with you about Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.  They have the new “Summer Nightastic!” party throughout the summer.  I will share all of that information in another post at the beginning of next week!

Disclosure: I was invited to this event by The Disneyland Resort.  I was given free entry to Disney California Adventure. I’m a huge fan of Disney and we go there all the time.  I may have gone to Disneyland approximately four times in the past week. I don’t think they needed to nudge me to post about this fabulousness at all!

Wordless Wednesday: Meeting Peter Facinelli at Disney

Angry Julie and her celebrity BFF, Peter Facinelli

Welcome to  “Angry Julie Monday’s Wordless Wednesday Linky”! If this your first time here, HELLO! I am doing a link-up every Wednesday! Post a picture(s) that you took in the past week and link back to it here.

I’m using a new thumbnail version of linky.  By using this version, you are able to see a thumbnail of all of the pictures. Please use a thumbnail of the photo for your Wordless Wednesday Post.

Summer is already too hectic for me

Summer started off with a bang! Angry Husband and I have both been quite swamped with work lately.  I think we are alternating with long days and late nights.  In between working, I’ve also been quite busy with some local events.

I had the pleasure of attending the premiere of Disney California Adventure’s World of Color show last Thursday night.  It was wonderful event complete with celebrities, the World of Color Show, and an after event.  I got to hang out with some great bloggers and play at California Adventure after hours when it was closed to the regular public.

I’m going to do an entire post about The World of Color and some other awesome things going on with Disneyland and California Adventure sometime later this week.  I literally have no time to even collect my thoughts about anything.  But I wanted to give you a sneak preview with some photographs, of course.

DSC_0092

Instead of having a “red” carpet, a beautiful “blue” carpet was laid out for the celebs to cross.  The people waiting along the fence were contest winners.

We had a fabulous time watching all of the who’s who strolling past us on the carpet.  I got several photos, since I’m quite the shutterbug.  I still have some more to edit.  I’m just going to leave you with these sneak peeks since I have so much more to share, but seriously, The World of Color ROCKED! Go to Disney California Adventure SOON, because you NEED to see it for your own eyes.

I may attended Disney on Friday morning also.  I had to hang out with my bloggy friends. Shhh, don’t tell Angry Kid.  He would be a little angry with me, if he found out that I went without him.

Wow, what a crazy weekend working.  I don’t think I’ve stopped to take a break at all.  We ended my work week tonight with a very short and random trip to Disneyland. It was super crazy busy, but we had a great time which may have ended with fireworks and funnel cake.

E3 Expo

I have to go to bed now, as it is after midnight, and I have another event to attend tomorrow. Yes, can you believe it, another FUN event.  I’m going to E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo.  I’m dragging, well not really, Angry Husband and his friend along with me.  They are both gamers, and quite excited about this event.

I can’t wait to check out all of the new cool video games.  I love video games, but I’m not good at them like I used to be.  I rocked Zelda in my day! Angry Kid could probably beat some adults at video games, he is that good.  Hopefully, I can get an E3 post up this week also.

Stay tuned! I am enjoying all of these fun things to do. Plus the weather has been so beautiful too!

P.S. Disney invited me to their event. I was provided admission, viewing of the show, and maybe some snacks.  I was also invited to E3 by a company also.  They did not influence me at all with their awesomeness.  Ok, maybe a little. But I was not forced at all to write about them.

30 Things I Vow

Today is my first time participating in Mama Kat’s Writer’s Workshop. Every week she picks a list of topics to write about.  This is helpful for people like me whom have horrible ADD and have a lack of focus.  Seriously, I have lists and lists of things to do, but I get distracted by shiny things.  One of the topics, “30 Things I Vow To Do This Summer” was perfect for me.  Because I love lists.  So here it goes.

30 Things I Vow To Do This Summer

1.   Learn to use my camera better. That means actually use it the right way, in manual.
2.   Learn to edit videos on my Macbook. This was actually a resolution too.
3.   Work out three to five times a week.
4.   Finish teaching my son to ride a two wheel bike.
5.   Organize my office.

12.  Take Angry Kid to the beach because he loves it so much.
13.  Ride our bikes along the boardwalk at the beach.
14.  Organize the Legos that are taking over my house.
15.  Get Angry Kid prepared and ready for Kindergarten.
16.  Sell all of the stuff that I have put aside to go on Craig’s List.
17.  Call Goodwill for a huge pick-up.
18.  Get all of my blog reviews done. Seriously, I have a few to do.
19.  Organize my computer.  I have some issues, ok maybe OCD.
20.  Plant some new flowers in our front yard. Damn rabbits keep eating them.
21.  Take thousands of pictures.
22.  Go to Disneyland a lot. We have Season Passes. We need to get our use out of them!
23.  Annoy my husband with “Honey Do” projects.
24.  Walk around Homegoods several times a week.
25.  Increase my headband collection.  A girl has got to accessorize.
26.  Panic about what to wear to BlogHer.
27.  Attend BlogHer in NYC.
28.  Attend and Speak at Bloggy Boot Camp in San Francisco.
29.  Watch the Season Premiere of Weeds in August.
30.  Have fun and not drive my family crazy!

I have always said that I’m a little ADD and random.  I hope my list entertained you!! Now let’s see if I can accomplish everything!
