Friends By Fate

Angry Julie and Sarah

We were meant to be friends.  We have been at two events together in the past month.  We live in two different states.  We were at events in two different states.  I hate fish. She likes it.  She hates fruit. I like fruit.  She is a PC. I am a Mac.  But that’s what makes great friendships, differences.

Who would have known that our husbands worked together before.  That we have Faceobook friends in common.

It was fate that Sarah and I met.  We giggled like school girls for the past few days. We stayed up late at night. We hung in the jacuzzi. We played on our computers.

I can’t wait to see Sarah again!!!

They had me at breakfast

On Tuesday, I posted that I was going to Scottsdale to learn more about Bosch and their washers and dryers.  Well, I’m full of information, actually overwhelmed.  Ok, maybe I’m full from all of this recreation, conversation, and delicious food that I’ve been enjoying.

Upon entering our hotel, The InterContinental Montelucia, I was provided with this sight. Really, why am I here? I think I forgot.  All I could imagine was sitting in a poolside cabana, enjoying the sun, and having a freshly poured ice tea.

But first, I had to get my breakfast.  With mid-70 degrees temperatures, and yogurt parfaits in martini glasses, I had to stop and enjoy my breakfast first.  There’s nothing better than normal breakfast food, packaged nicely, and a gorgeous patio to eat on.

But oh, who is this? A baby sneaking in on our siesta? Why yes, that’s little Piper.  She’s the daughter of Shanna, from My Favorite Everything.  We may be bloggers, but as mom bloggers, being a mom comes first. And really, who can’t resist a seven week old baby, who barely made a peep.

Piper, in a peaceful sleep

And this was just breakfast! I’m sure that you can’t wait to hear more about my little trip. Let me just tell you that this resort, Bosch, and The Container Store were wonderful.  I can’t wait to share all this useful information.

Disclosure: My three days of leisure was provided and paid for by Bosch.  Their delivery of excellent food and lodging may have enticed me to blog about all of this.  I can’t help it. Wouldn’t you blog about this awesomesauce too?

Piper, My Love

Piper and Julie

Piper, my love. I wish that we lived closer. We could sit on the couch, watch chick flicks and cry about everything going on in our lives.  Actually, it would be even better if we were surrounded by all of our great bloggy friends.  I “met” you through your old blog, and lost you. I found you again right before BlogHer last year.  I’m so glad we found each other again.

Piper, I don’t know how much I can do for you from California, but I just wanted to know how much I love you.  In your times of sorrow, just know that we are here for you.

This kick butt video montage was created by Rachel. She also rocks.

Wordless Wednesday: A Kid and His Dog

Angry Kid and Wolfie

Welcome to  “Angry Julie Monday’s Wordless Wednesday Linky”! If this your first time here, HELLO! I am doing a link-up every Wednesday! Post a picture(s) that you took in the past week and link back to it here.

I’m using a new thumbnail version of linky for the first time.  But using this version, you are able to see a thumbnail of all of the pictures. Please use a thumbnail of the photo for your Wordless Wednesday Post.

Airing My Dirty Laundry, Literally

I’ve always been on top of my organizing and cleaning.  I admit that I pay someone to clean my house, but otherwise I’m pretty organized.  We live in a small house so every bit of space counts. We have cabinets, drawers, shelves, and containers throughout the interior of the house.  But, our garage, well, lately it seems to be somewhat of a catch-all.

Angry Husband is always working on some kind of project (Angry Kid’s room), and I tend to dump my bags of stuff on the floor of the garage.  I always have some bag with me, full of junk.  I’m notorious for having clothes, books, and toys throughout the garage in these bags.  I usually sort through them once a week or so.

But I’ve never seen our garage this bad lately, especially the laundry area.  I’m quite OCD over our laundry.  It started a long time ago, as I mostly hang dry my clothing. Then, we had Angry Kid.  I used to sell most of Angry Kid’s clothing on e-bay and other forums.  I had to spot check everything, and also hung dry most of his stuff. It started to look like a Chinese laundry in there, with junk hanging everywhere.  Luckily, I finally got a rolling rack, so it has toned down a little.

Laundry Area in the Garage

I’m presenting my unedited/uncleaned version of my garage laundry area. Can you see the chaos? There is no organization to all of this. It is a mess.  I wish we had an interior laundry area.  I’m constantly cleaning dust and debris off of everything. This is what happens when you have a husband who’s always using some kind of power tool in the garage.

Sorting Laundry

This is how I sort my laundry before washing it.  I collect all of the laundry in baskets and dump it on the ground.  We have a ton of laundry. You would think that a family of three, wouldn’t have this much laundry, right? Well, Angry Husband and I both wear uniforms, and we have an almost five year old boy, enough said!

I take this pile and sort it be colors, etc.  It works for me, at the moment.  I really need to find a better way to organize this mess.

Stuff from Angry Kid's Pockets

This is what the top of the washing machine currently looks like. Notice the cars, shells, and other random stuff.  ALL of this has come from Angry Kid’s pockets.  This kid is amazing.  I always find these “treasures” in his pockets. The water bottles are mine.  They are for my running fuel belt, completely discarded here on the washer. Obviously, it’s been awhile since I’ve used them.

Top of dryer, cleaning products

This is how the top of my dryer looks right now. I’ve somewhat organized stuff in a plastic basket.  It contains dryer sheets, miscellaneous stain products, baby wipes, and other random stuff.  I use Tide Cold Water Liquid, and whatever-is-on-sale fabric softener.  I also have a jar on top for collecting my prize. Because if you leave money in your pants, throw it in the laundry basket, it becomes my prize.

So, you are probably wondering why I’m showing off my hot mess of a laundry area, right? You know there’s a reason for this? Well, today I’m leaving to fly to Scottsdale, Arizona.  I’m meeting up with some other great bloggers for a special event. Bosch is hosting us for a Blogger Retreat called “Hamper to Hangers”.  We are going to learn some tips on how to simplify our laundry time, so we can have more time to spend with our family.  I’m all about time management.  We are also having a special treat, because organizational experts from The Container Store will also be interacting with us. We will be visiting Bosch’s Flagship Brand Gallery.

I’m quite excited to learn more about Bosch’s products, and better ways to use my “laundry time”. I can’t wait to share everything.  Oh, and I will be taking photos, that’s priority number one for me.

Our one hour at Disney

DSC_0022

My mom and I took Angry Kid to Disneyland this past Sunday.  It was another impromptu, unplanned trip.  It was a beautiful day, so we figured, why not.  We approached the parking structure and saw that the cars were starting to back up a bit. We still got in line.  We even cringed a little, when we kept going higher and higher in the structure. But we made it, and parked the car.

We headed towards the trams and picked our side to wait.  We waited for our turn, while we got our usual “people watching” in.  It is amazing what you will see at Disneyland.  I wish I was a bit faster with my camera, because if I could capture some of the people and outfits that we saw.  This is probably why I will never be a good paparazzi photographer.  I’m just not fast enough.

I did get some pictures of Angry Kid making faces at me, and the new trams with doors installed.  We waited about ten minutes for the tram, and were on our way.  We headed into Disney’s California Adventure, because Angry Kid wanted to go on the Toy Story ride. We got our obligatory Disney churro and headed towards the ride.  After forty-five minutes, we hopped on for an rootin’ tootin’ adventure on Toy Story.

The worse part of the ride, because truly, it is a great ride, is the exit.  The ride exits into a store, not just any store, but a toy store.  As soon as we made it down the stairs, Angry Kid made contact with a $30 Toy Story Lego set.  I told Angry Kid, “no”, as his birthday is coming soon.  He did not like my response.  He began to kick and scream.  Well, my mom and I each took one of Angry Kid’s arms, and promptly drug him out from the store.  Well also promptly placed him into the stroller, and headed towards the entrance of the park.

Angry Kid shouted some wonderful things on our way out, such as “I hate you momma. I want another churro. I want that Buzz Lightyear Lego Toy.” I looked at my watch, and realized that we had only been there one hour.  It was probably a good thing, my mom and I were both discussing some fabulous Disney ice cream.  Angry Kid probably saved me at least 500 calories.

But, I did capture some “sweet shots”. So my photo above is designated for today’s “Sweet Shot Tuesday” with Darcy from Life With My 3 Boybarians.

Sweet Shot Day

Oh, and the photo is Angry Kid overlooking the new “World of Color” at Disney’s California Adventure Park.  It opens on June 11, 2010. The Angry Family can’t wait!

Online Shopping and Using Ebates

Do you shop online? I know that a majority of my purchases are made online. I’m just too busy to run around to buy one thing these days.  If I can find it online, I’m more apt to buy and have it shipped.  I’m a total instant gratification girl by heart, but I have learned to be a bit more patient.

ebates

A few years ago, when I was surfing the parenting forums online, I was introduced to Ebates. Ebates is an online site that show the latest online deals, coupons, and also gives cashback when you enter certain stores through their site.  When you click through to the store, and make a purchase, a certain determined percentage (stated on the site), will be put into your account.  Approximately four times a year, Ebates pays out.  I always have my Ebates check deposit into my Paypal, which leads to more online spending.

These are some examples of my Ebates Rebates recently:

Overnight Prints (Blog Business Cards): Purchase Amount $34.95 Ebates Rebate $3.50

Victoria’s Secret: Purchase Amount $57.98 Ebates Rebate $1.16

Endless: Purchase Amount $27.90 Ebates Rebate $1.67

*The percentages vary as these purchases were made at different times, and the Ebates Rebates for each store vary.

I figure that I’m already shopping online, so why not try to get the best deal. You also get $5.00 deposited into your account for just signing up!

I Heart Faces: Week 17 Smiles

I have entered a few of I Heart Faces Weekly Photo Challenges recently.  It’s a great way to see some great photography and show off my random amateur photography also.  I attempt to be a decent photographer, but I just don’t always have the time to practice my craft.

I haven’t had much time lately to bring out the camera, but I always have my iPhone handy.  It has a snazzy thing called a “camera” on it. So alas, I totally took a self-portrait today.  I’m a blogger. It’s ok to be a little narcissistic sometimes, right?

i heart faces Week 17: smiles

I was showing off my snazzy new headband and my new shades.  Aren’t they great? I was rockin’ my Lisa Leonard necklace too, but you can only see the chain in the photo.

So for the photo type stuff, I used my iPhone to take the photo and Picnik to edit it.  I used the cross-process effect for the color.

To see more photos, which I’m sure are much better than me. Please check out I Heart Faces. Seriously, there are always hundreds of awesome photos posted each week.
